What is Yoga?

Yoga is one of the worlds oldest systems of physical and mental improvement and has been practiced for over three thousand years. Beginners are taught a series of simple postures that build up strength, stamina and suppleness.
Iyengar Yoga is taught in a methodical and progressive way, with an emphasis on correct controlled practice. Teachers use props such as foam blocks, wooden bricks and belts to help each individual student achieve the best possible posture.


Who is it for?

Everyone from the age of 14 to 90+ can benefit from practicing Yoga.
And you do'nt need to fit to start.


What are the benefits?

  1. You become more supple and flexible
  2. Yoga reduces stress and relaxes both the mind and body
  3. It increases your strength and muscle tone
  4. You feel more energetic


Newcomers

If you are new to Yoga and would like to attend a class, then please read the following instructions:-

  1. Do not eat any food for at least 2 hours before a class
  2. Wear loose clothing e.g. a gym shirt and shorts or joggers
  3. Introduce yourself to the Teacher and tell them of any medical problems
  4. Never overstretch yourself when you do a posture
  5. Try to keep your face relaxed as you do each posture
  6. Enjoy yourself every time you practice Yoga
