G-Force: Cells & Celebrations!

'G-Force' is the name we've given to the Christian fellowship part of Youth Club at Craigmore... It's a place of welcome, worship, word and witness - we want to be a group of people who are friendly, who go deep with God, who learn from the Bible and share what we've found with others.

The lovely cell leaders for Jan 03+Cells... Cells... Cells... Cells... Cells... Cells... Cells... Cells... Cells...

G-Force made the move to a Cell-based structure in January 2003 - so what does that mean? Well, we think that small is beautiful! By meeting in a number of groups with no more than 12 people in each, we can have a more intimate, deep and meaningful experience of fellowship (a bit like Jesus' twelve disciples!).

Cells are led by people the same age as you, but they don't do everything - each member of the group commits to taking part in a cell meeting every now and again. There are four parts: the first is Welcome - a bit of fun, to get us relaxed and chatting. Then comes Worship - using the gifts of the group members to express how great our God is! Thirdly, we have the Word - an opportunity to read and discuss the meaning of some passages from the Bible. And finally, we have Witness - thinking and praying about how to apply the Word to our lives and how to share God's love with the World.

Cells meet every Sunday at 5.30pm in Craigmore Church Halls... If you are new to cells, don't worry - so are we! Just turn up and we'll make sure you're in a group of people you should be able to work with. We have toast and hot chocolate together before going our separate ways, so you still get to see everyone. Celebrations (which are special meetings with all the cells together) happen normally on the first Sunday of each month, still at 5.30pm: the next ones are on 6 July (at Summer Madness), 10 August and 7 September 2003.

Here's a handy list of what's on over the Summer:

  • June 29 – Habits B
  • July 6 – Summer Madness (leave Craigmore 5.30pm)
  • July 13 – BBQ at Ross & Kathryn’s House (5 Helens Drive – bring your own meat!)
  • July 20 – Worship Evening
  • July 27 – Lady Dixon Park (leave Craigmore 5.30pm)
  • August 3 – Castlewellan (depart time TBA)
  • August 10 – CELEBRATION
  • August 17 – Habits I
  • August 24 – Habits T
  • August 31 – Cell Social Evening (each cell doing its own thing)
  • September 7 – CELEBRATION
  • September 14 – Habits S

We send out an e-mail almost every week to keep young people informed - if you'd like to receive these please visit the Updates page.

The G-Force leaders (who supply hot choc and toast before the cells start, as well as a listening ear if you need one - or ever two!) are Jonny Spence, Kathryn Harte and Ross Harte. Simon Wilson, Natallie Clarke and Michelle Clarke, along with Adrian and Pauline Hyde, are our official encouragers!

We're going to spend the Summer trying to develop healthy H.A.B.I.T.S.... Here's a wee list of them!

"H" - Hand it over!
We need to hand our day over to God every morning, to live completely for Him... and we need to view our money and possessions as God-given too.
"A" - Accountability with other believers.
It's really important to spend time with one or two other Christians on a regular basis to pray and ask each other the hard questions of faith - "What have you learnt recently?", "Are you struggling with any particular sin or situation at the moment?"
"B" - Be involved with the Christian community.
We can learn so much from other Christians who've been around the block a few times! And we've been given talents and skills that God wants us to use to encourage one another - we're the Body of Christ!
"I" - Imitate Jesus in word and action
What Would Jesus Do if he were in your shoes? This habit is all about thinking through how we should live in this hurting world - is it "me, me, me" or "all for You"?
"T" - Time alone with God
It is so important to spend time alone with God on a daily basis. It's hard, but you will notice yourself behaving in a more grace-filled way when you pray a bit and rest in His presence each day.
"S" - Study and learn the Bible
We need to know God's Word inside out! It's our guidebook to life, full of encouragement, instruction and wisdom.
