Acton Grange Viaduct.

This is the second of the high level railway bridges over the canal that is encountered on the journey from Eastham.

On the journey upstream this is the first railway crossing which had to be built in order to cross the canal - the Britannia bridge at Runcorn being already in existance. The bridge was opened for goods traffic on 27th February 1893 but was not certified as safe for passenger traffic until the July of that year.
