Irlam Viaduct.
Carrying the Manchester (Oxford Road) to Warrington and Liverpool railway line the viaduct was opened for goods traffic on the Cheshire Lines Railway on the 9th January 1893. The viaduct was certified for passenger traffic on 27th March of the same year. The original line of the railway can still be seen (and walked along) from the end of Merwell Road in Flixton, to the canal bank. |
