DAVID BEAVAN


David Beavan began his musical life at school in Shrewsbury where he performed a wide range of music both as a singer and as a conductor.

After taking up a choral scholarship at Jesus College, Cambridge, where he also conducted the choir of the University Church, St Mary's Great, he went to London to study at Trinity College of Music and to begin his professional career.

His wide range of musical interests were developed by a number of years spent performing and recording with The Swingle Singers, travelling the USA, Australia, the Far East and throughout Europe. He now lives in London and appears as a soloist and as a consort singer in this and many other countries, performing music from the 12th Century through to that of contemporary composers.He is particularly associated with The Hilliard Ensemble and is currently working closely with Trevor Pinnock and the English Concert.

David makes many appearances on television and radio and features on numerous prestige recordings alongside some of the world's most famous musicians.

He bacame musical director of The Market Harborough Singers in 1985. Since then, he has guided the Singers into many new areas of music, introducing them to new styles, composersand eras of work in the belief that there is no area of musical expression that should not be explored.

In 1992, he formed Serenata Voices, a group of young professional singers.
