'A GOOD THING' - There's something of a party atmosphere to this cheerful pop/dance crossover, with a strong hook and plenty going on. That it was all done at home and squeezed onto a 4-track is a real measure of Dizzy Dizzy's achievement. Guitars and bass were recorded along with sequenced keyboards and drums to provide a stereo backing track. Then the vocals were put down on the remaining two tracks - a lead vocal simultaneously recorded with pre-sampled backing vocals. A potentially cluttered result was averted by skilful mixing at every stage.Music TechnologyDIZZY DIZZYAn amalgamation of influences at work here: a modern rhythmic beat is wrapped round '70's style songs. Surfacing through a typically full mix is 'A Good Thing' which hints at the Byrds.'Freedom Rider is the best cut: slide guitar, sampled sounds and a percussive nagging beat lay the base for a glitzy song redolent of T. Rex!CITY LIFE |

The tape is entitled Eurotrash and is basically, not to give it short shrift, a mixture of sixties tinged psychedelic pop songs with a more blues attitude than quaint folksiness. Freedom Rider - what the hell, I'm shooting in the dark for reference points, there's so many ingredients thrown into this one track and it's all done on a portastudio yet sounds top quality .
