A Year of Celebration & Mission
Special events are being organised to mark
1400 years of worship and some of the musical events are listed
below:
13 15 February - Friends of Cathedral
Music National Gathering in
(Concert by past and present choristers in
the Cathedral on Saturday 14 February at 7.30).
13 March and 22 May 7.30 in the
Cathedral. Celebrity Organ Recitals. Funds are being sought for
these events and the KCOA has agreed to help sponsor them.
24 June - 5.30 Choral Evensong for the
dedication of the new fresco in the north transept (the first to
be painted in an English Cathedral for 800 years). A new
anthem has been commissioned from John Tavener.
24 July Evening concert in the Castle
grounds to include singers from Choral Societies in the diocese.
30-31 October Association of
Cathedral Voluntary Choirs (hosted by Rochester Cathedral Special
Choir). About 150 singers from 10 choirs singing Evensong (Sat)
and Eucharist (Sun).
8 Feb, 7 March, 4 April, 2 May, 13 June 11
July, 12 September, 17 October 4.30 to 5.30 in the
Cathedral. Great Organ Works.
Other events include an exhibition in the
Guildhall, 2004 Roadshow, A Rochester Mystery (play
by Rev. Tony Powell) and Lectures. See website
