While the Bronze Age occupation seems to belong
to the Early and Middle Bronze Ages (before about 1250 BC), we have some
evidence for continuing activity at the cave. At some point, a shallow pit was
dug into the top of the talus and a few objects dropped into it. They include
part of a broken Bronze Age macehead that has been reground, although we do not
know why, and a scrap of pottery that does not appear to be Bronze Age. It
resembles Early Iron Age pottery (c 800-400 BC) in the region. Whether
this was part of a continuing occupation at the cave or evidence for nothing
more than a brief visit to the site, we cannot yet say.
