Murder Mystery
Situated at the back of The Angel Hotel there used to stand The Stable Bar, so named because the bar contained the original horse bays and fixtures existing since its original use as a stable. In the late 1700's the Angel had boasted stabling for 90 horses and also provided a change of horses for the mail coach.
The hotel was also used as a billet for soldiers during the Napoleonic War as well as a staging post for travellers en route to London via Leicester. One hotel guest heard a Town Cryer walk past her room at 3am, whilst another saw a man in a red tunic glide down a corridor.
We invited clairvoyant Tarona Gail Hawkins to wander around the hotel with us to see if she could 'pick up' anything. At first, Tarona told us that she could not sense anything despite wandering all over the hotel. We were ready to call it quits when we were led to another part of the hotel that was kept locked and hardly ever used. This turned out to be 'The Stable Bar'. When we entered it felt extremely cold, then Tarona began to sense something quite strongly...
What followed was all caught on camera and turned out to be one of Tarona's most un-nerving experiences to date. As she stood on a particular spot she described the sensation of a huge pair of hands around her throat trying to strangle her. The experience was so vivid that she was quite shaken by it and staff offered her a calming drink. Also, two red marks had appeared on her throat! What's more, she had picked up the impression that a young girl had been strangled there by a man wearing some sort of farmer's smock. A group of men similarly dressed also seemed to be involved, almost as if it were some sort of ritual killing. Tarona had the vague impression that the girl was pregnant.
Amazingly, we tracked down two
former members of staff whose story backed up Tarona's vision.
They had each witnessed an image of what they described as a
'grey lady' suddenly appearing in the Stable Bar and gliding
through the opposite wall. Even more remarkable was that they had
both experienced a feeling of dread on other occasions and felt
the need to drop everything and flee the room as though there
were two distinctly different prescences there, one of them evil.
The part of the bar in which the grey lady appeared matches the
spot that Tarona had picked out...
