From St. John's Vicar

The Vicar
Rev. Linda Potter

Thankyou for taking the time to visit our website and I bid you a warm welcome. This is a new website and it will grow as the church and the organisations within it grow so we hope you will find the time to visit us again.

In this site you will find some insights into life at St. John's Church and the Parish. Many of our organisations are either new or have recently been re-established, and so we find ourselves in a time of much 'busyness' and growth.

We are an Anglican church for all ages serving the needs of a parish comprised of village, council and private estates and farming communities. Our main Sunday worship is a Sung Eucharist at 09:30 a.m. with various forms of Evening Worship offered on the last Sunday of each month, incorporating Choral Evensong (BCP), Taize style services, Celtic Liturgy and Songs of Praise. Baptisms are by arrangement and are normally at an 11:30 service but there is an option for inclusion in the main 09:30 service. Morning and Evening Prayer are said daily in church.

Family provision includes a Children's Corner in church, with books, crayons and soft toys for under 4's where children and parents can relax while still feeling part of the service. Sunday School (Junior LOGOS)for over 4's meets at 09:30 in the Vicarage. Youth group (over 10's) meets fortnightly in the Church Hall for those who regularly attend church. The now well established SUNDAY LOGOS group meets on the first and third Sundays of the month in the Vicarage at 09:30.

Other Church activities include the Choir, Mother's Union, Dance Club, Drama Club, Whist Club, Bible Study Groups, monthly '100 Club' Draw and coffee morning, and Family Fun Days. We have a monthly magazine (30p, available on request) which holds more details of events.
Should you find yourself in our area, please visit the church which is open during daylight hours for private prayer, a time of quiet or just a rest!
God bless you all. (The Vicar can be reached by email.)
