CHILE

In the middle of the 19th century wealthy industrialists and landowners who wanted their vineyards to produce wines on the European model introduced grape varieties such as cabernet sauvignon, merlot and chardonnay amongst others, into Chile. It is important to note that even today these wines are still un-grafted and grow on their own rootstocks. The shelter of the Andes and the coastal Pacific Cordillera mountain range, creates a gentle mountain Mediterranean influence which allows for consistent quality of the vintage year-on-year. Their wines have become renown for their purity of flavour, tremendous fruit and concentrated richness. Chile has now undoubtedly established itself as a benchmark on the international wine scene for its pioneering emphasis on producing a range of consumer friendly, quality wines that are appreciated the world over.

Don Melchor

Don Melchor was hailed the best Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile by both the Wine Spectator and Robert Parker. Named after the founder of the winery, Don Melchor de Concha y Toro, the wine has become a symbol of the best the land and the winemaker's hand can produce in Chile.

Wine Magazine

92 points from Wine Spectator.A huge expression of cabernet Sauvignon, terrunyo pushes deep blackberry and violets on the nose, while the palate bursts with acidity that propels lasting dark flavours. On the spot!
