Royston concert showcases talent from across East Hertfordshire

A musical masterpiece by a 17-year old genius has a rare performance in Royston at the end of the month. On 24 November, concert-goers at Royston Parish Church can enjoy Messa di Gloria - a dramatic choral work by Puccini, composed when he was just 17 years old.

Messa di Gloria is the centrepiece of a truly multinational concert programme which also includes Dvorak's Te Deum, Mozart's Laudate Dominium and Night on a Bare Mountain by Moussorgsky.

While the programme has an international flavour, the performers display a home grown talent with members of the Royston Choral Society being joined for the evening by the Heath Mount Singers from Hertford, and the Broxbourne Sinfonia. Soloists are Sarah Connor (Soprano), David Morris (Tenor) and Alex Mills (Bass).

Musical Director David Boarder is delighted to be bringing such a musical feast to Royston. "The whole programme is very operatic with big tunes. Messa di Gloria is a fine work, but it is not often performed because it's such a challenging piece. We aim to put that right. It's a wonderful piece and I'm confident all those coming to the concert will agree!"

The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets - £7.50 (concessions £5 and 'still at school' £1) - are available from Royston Library and on the door.
