Royston choir takes to the road

For the first time in nearly half a decade, Royston Choral Society are leaving town for their first concert of 2003.

On Saturday 15 February, the choir will be in Barkway Church for a performance of both popular and lesser known pieces. The programme include Beatus Vir by Monteverdi, Kyrie from Durufle's Requiem, and Harris's Faire is the Heaven, as well as lighter compositions. Tickets will be on sale on the night of the concert which starts at 7.30pm.

Back in July 1998, the choir performed at St Margaret's Church in Barley but since then, apart from a contribution to a special millennium concert in Ware with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in July 2000, the Royston Choral Society have remained in the town's Parish Church.

Performing in other venues is part of a re-organisation of the choir's concert programme which includes an increase in performances in the 2002-03 season from three to five.
