Choir welcomes new singers

There's never been a better time to take up choral singing. That's the message from the Royston Choral Society who welcome singers of all ages to their 'open rehearsal' in Royston Parish Church at 8pm on Tuesday 7 May.

Thanks to a recent lottery award, the invitation to 'have a go' is backed by an offer of transport for anyone who might not be able to make it otherwise. The evening will be informal and fun - there are no auditions. Those who decide to come back are invited to join the choir for their Tuesday evening rehearsals, and a concert with the Royston Town Band on 13 July, also at the Parish Church.

Janet Hole from Mackerel Hall in Royston is a new choir member - she joined at an open rehearsal in January. She admits to being a bit apprehensive at first, but says: "It helped that there are no auditions. Everybody was very welcoming and there's a great camaraderie within the group."
