In 2000 Shakespeare Branch was fortunate enough to have four micro-breweries operating within its area.
The closure of Cox's Yard in January 2002 reduced that to three.
Although Wizard Brewery opened in March 2003, it was offset by the simultaneous closure of Fat Gods.
2005 saw the opening of Purity Brewing Co and Bard's Brewery bringing us up to an unprecedented five.
But 2007 has seen the loss of no fewer than three with the closure of Bard's Brewery in January, the departure of Wizard Brewery to Devon in the spring, and final confirmation in October of the demise of Evesham Brewery.
