One in the Bush ....
At their February meeting, members of the Shakespeare branch of the Campaign for Real Ale, (CAMRA), chose the Holly Bush, Henley Street, Alcester, as their Pub of the Year. Three times a previous winner in 2000, 2001 and 2002 the Holly Bush has been an ever present for many years in CAMRA's best selling Good Beer Guide. There are many things that have made the Bush a winner: The award will be presented by Shakespeare branch Chairman, Lloyd Evans, at a ceremony in the pub on Friday 27th April, at which we hope to be joined by many men in strange attire: the officers of the Court Leet of the Manor of Alcester (Ale Tasters included), and the White Hart Morris Men. Members of both these august institutions have not infrequently been observed in the Holly Bush, drawn like moths to a flame by its manifold attractions.
