Pleasant 15th century timber framed hotel opposite the American Fountain in the Market Place, with an ancient wall painting of Tobit and the Angels. Real Ale in the Good Companions Bar. The tiny central courtyard has a pool with Coy Carp. For long a Trust House, it then passed through several chains and has recently been sold by Leicester based Everards. Live music in the Oak Room features a long-running modern-ish Jazz session Sundays 8-10.30 (definitely no Dixieland).
