Deeside Orienteering Club

Last Updated 24th January 2001
If you want fitness training, particularly cross country running in the type of terrain often
used for orienteering, then the Cross Country training runs could be for you.
For interested Juniors Deeside OC puts on organised training sessions
which juniors and their families are welcome to attend.
The junior training gives more instruction in Orienteering techniques.
Other training is possible at the Summer Evening Events,
by progression up through the colour coded courses, and talking after your run to
experienced Orienteers around who will usually be happy to explain what you could have
done to make a better route choice, or home in on the control.
Cross Country Training Runs
In the summer the training runs are held in orienteering type terrain on footpaths,
but during the darker eveings of autumn and winter the runs are on roads.
The general consensus is that we stick
to Tuesday nights, but whenever there is an orienteering event on a Tuesday,
the run will
take place on the Wednesday.
We are looking for more runners, male and female, whatever age, to join us. It doesn't matter how fit you are - the idea is to enjoy running with others and try to get fit if possible. The run usually lasts an hour and someof us usually end up in the local pub, to regain the calories we've just lost.
If you're interested, then see the
current schedule of runs
and just turn up.
Junior Training
Junior training is usually held in the autumn and winter. (During the summer there is the
opportunity to attend the Summer Evening Events).
At present we have no junior coach, so no sessions are currently scheduled.
