The present Bowls Club is in fact the third to be built in Winslow. The very first was sited in the churchyard where the modern cemetery now is. This was a private Club which is reputed to have been in existence before 1861, having a flourishing membership for many years before it eventually folded in 1935, due to falling numbers.

The first Bowling Green taken from what was Back Lane (now Vicarage Road)
