League Development
Part of the Welwyn Hatfield Netball Leagues development plan was to increase
the number of senior, youth and junior players within the Welwyn Hatfield
area. The plan included the introduction of a third division which could accommodate
the senior and youth players, enabling them to play competitive matches on a
weekly basis, weekly coaching sessions to help the players to continue to
improve. A new junior club to be set up with weekly coaching sessions,
matches against other junior clubs within the area during the winter and entry
into a summer junior league and tournament. The junior players could then
be fed into the senior league when old enough.
A development committee was formed and it was decided that Introduction to
Netball mornings was the best way to generate the interest needed to further our
plans.
King George V Playing Fields Development
The Leisure Services department of Welwyn Hatfield Council have submitted
development plans for King George V which include a new club house with extra
facilities. A 6th netball court and extra floodlights are also in the
proposals (This will enable us to increase the league to 36 teams).
We have now read in The Welwyn Hatfield Times that these improvements plans
to King George V have been postponed.
