A few years ago, I threw out £4,500 of commercial ( highly regarded ) Class A Pre-Power Amps because the standard version of this stereo amp was a vast improvement and I mean vast!
Like most enthusiasts, I wasted lots of money trying to get the sound I wanted. This amplifier was available all the time, but I always thought it was too cheap to be any good along with being scared of building one myself, how wrong I was! Don't make the same mistake as me, treat yourself to a sound quality most can only dream of.
You could say, I did a Remington "I liked the product so much that I bought the company".

This latest version of the renowned JLH based design improves on the previous incarnation with it's extra facilities and cleaner, more closely matched performance ability. It is available in stereo and monoblock as before (the monoblock looks identical, but does not have the power amp components at one end).

Some of the improvements are as follows:-
o It now has the addition of a switchable balanced input option as standard!!!
o The earth paths have been very carefully redesigned to give the optimum performance.
o Signal paths and component layout has been very carefully thought out to provide the best performance.
o The single PCB arrangement eliminates all those connecting wires, giving greater stability and because it is not a modular design, some of the de-coupling caps have been removed aiding stability even more.
o The Hitachi Mosfets are the modern direct equivelant of the original Hitachi mosfets used in early amps.
o The amp PCB comes as a fully assembled, bench tested unit, which only need heatsinks, a transformer and a case of some description ( it slots straight in to the case I supply, needless to say ).

All this has been achieved without incurring any extra cost to the customer ( other than the extra components and a nominal assembly/test charge ). Of course, I could call it the latest Special Edition and charge more if you like, but my regular customers already know that this is not what I do.

This amplifier is based upon an original design by the renowned John Linsley Hood and will reproduce a more pleasing sound than most other amplifiers irrespective of price !!! It should not be confused with other amplifier kits that have been produced to provide value for money in terms of their watts per pound. The designer of this amplifier only had sound quality in mind during it's conception. The delicacy and transparency of the sound, coupled with it's flawless performance and overall reproduction quality make this unit unbelievable value for money.

DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT - COME AND LISTEN FOR YOURSELF or if you can't make it, I can arrange to send you a demonstration model. All you have to do is pay £40.00 to cover the postage to you and credit card charges, along with a deposit of £350. If you decide to buy an amp, you pay the balance less a £20.00 discount. In the unlikely event that you don't buy one, you return the amp in the same condition that you received it and I will refund the £350.00. Although I tell people how good this amp sounds, they are still amazed when they hear it. It even looks better now with it's more up to date casework, but is also available without the case so that you can use one of your own choice (e.g. Maplin's XM68 @ £36.00, although extra heatsinks are needed for the power supply Mosfets ). For those familiar with the old Hart catalogue, this is now only available in SA(Series Audiophile) versions. These Kits include everything you need except the tools and are easy to construct following our step by step instructions.

The advantages of using a power amplifier and 'pre-amp' are that it will reduce component crosstalk by separating the components.
